Marcon - flag bearer for the Maltese Contingent at the Beijing Olympic Games

Marcon has just been announced as the flag bearer of the Maltese Contingent at the Beijing Olympic Games. Congratulations Marcon!!!!

Marcon in Istanbul & Braunschweig
Marcon
Marcon is currently doing her last part of the program which will take her to the Olympic Games this August.
On the 29th of June, she competed in Istanbul, Turkey, where more than 38 countries were competing. Results can be viewed through the European Judo Union Website (www.eujudo.com).
Unfortunately, Marcon got eliminated in her first round.

Our Marcon then spent a week in Frankfrut, where she was training under the supervision of her coach, Juergen Klinger. She then competed in another very high standard European Judo Union Tournament in Braunschweig, Germany, which was then followed by a European Judo Union training camp.
 
Brent & Kriss Law in Courmayer

Brent & Kriss have just returned from Courmayer, where they had the opportunity to train with some of the best Teams, including the first National Team of Italy, the second National Team of Spain, and a team from the Kodokan of Japan. Training was very hard but our boys did well!

Marcon returns from Training in Japan
Niccitai Uni
Marcon has just returned from a month training in Japan. She was accompanied by her coach Juergen Klinger, who will be accompanying our Marcon to the Olympic Games this August. Marcon had the opportunity to train in Niccitai Univeristy, Tsukuba University, and the Kodokan!
 
Joanna Camilleri wins 2 bronze

Joanna, accompanied by her coach Mario Cardona, represented Malta in two Italian international tournaments: Torneo di Messina and Toreno di Lipari. She placed 3rd in both events.

Maestro Monti is in Malta for the month of July, and he will be conducting competitive training sessions, according to the calendar.

An Update Seminar for current coaches & Level 1 & Level 2 licences for new coaches will be held during the week starting on the 7th of July. Please check the calendar for more details!
This Seminar is obligatory for all Club Coaches.

Judo goes to Splash & Fun! We're planning a day for all the Judo Members, their families & friends at the Splash & Fun. Contact us on mjf@ultramarmalta.com fur further details.
John Zammit, 4th Dan, is the new director appointed for the Malta Black Belt Academy.

In the European Kata Championships, Malta was represented by John Zammit, and his son, Jerome Zammit.
Jerome is a bronze medallist in the Team Event of the Games of the Small States of Europe.
John is the only Male Judo Gold Medallist of the Games of the Small States of Europe, was one of the Coaches Marcon Bezzina (who will be representing Malta at the next Olympic Games), and is one of the 2 qualified International Referees.
Malta has participated in this event for the first time ever, and placed 16th from 24 couples, with Slovenia, Russia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, Finland, Great Britain and Austria placing behind us.
