                                      -  Specialised training, competitions for top judokas - 
    The Malta Judo Asociation has decided to form a "National Team pool" from which a member of each category will be selected to make the national team. The pool will be made up of Judokas in each weight category selected for their merits in Tournaments and competitive spirit; at the discretion of the Technical Board.
    Training Sessions - reserved solely for members of the National Team Pool - will be held every Friday at 6:30 p.m. at St Andrews Gymnasium starting from September 22.
    The following are the judokas, who have been selected:
    60 KGS: Godwin Buttigieg - Raymond Grixti - Raymond Psaila - Gaetano Scerri.
    65 KGS: John Zammit - Teddy Borg - Chris Busuttil - Sean Griscti - M. Giuliano.
    75 KGS: Godfrey Bezzina - Brian Warrington - Noel Zarb Cousin - Renato Saliba 
    78 KGS: Raymond Cutajar - Joseph Mallia - Alex Bezzina - Tony Tanti.
    86 KGS: Joe Abela - Charles Bella - Joseph Darmanin - Emanuel Saliba.
    95 KGS: George Sullivan - Stephen Gunther - Silvio Cacciattolo. 
    + 95 KGS: Paul Mangion - Joe Grech.
    These members have been selected after the Technical Board had studied results of past "National" and "International" tournaments.
    It is expected that those chosen for the National  Team Pool would attend regular training sessions and adhere to all instructions, as issued by the national  team manager, who is responsible for the discipline of the pool. 
    Every month a "Weight Category Competition" will be organised under International regulations. The winner of each category will automatically become the "National Team Representative" in his weight category. The second place in his weight category will be his substitute.
    The weekly coaching for all  the pool members (including the selected national team) will be under the supervision of: Joe Abela (1st Dan), Raymon Cutajar (1st Dan) and Tony Tanti (1st Dan).
    The first session of Friday, September 22 will be a "Rating Competition" under International contest rules for the selection of the national team. Judokas ca compete in higher weight categories besides their own.
    All the Judokas named here are expected to attend. Those failing to do so will be disqualified.
    Clubs are recommended by the MJA to encourage attendance to those members of their club, selected. The Technical Board and team manager, reserve the right to amend the regulations or add to team, without prior notice.
