*National Judo Championships 2012

COMPETITION RULE

Date/Venue:
The competition will be held on the 16th of December 2012 @ The Cottonera Sports Complex (Bocci Drome). 
ALL COMPETITORS must have a valid MJF licence & should be registered with an MJF affiliated club.

Technical Information

Junior Dragons: 2003 & after (up to 9 years old)

The Junior Dragons will show judo skills learned during their judo lessons. The children will also participate in judo game competitions. 
Competition Time: 10:00 hrs – 12:00 hrs 
Fee: € 10 (€ 4 of this fee will be donated to l-Istrina. If you do not wish to contribute to the donation of l-Istrina you can pay only € 6 as competition fee). Fees must be paid via the club leader during weigh in.

Senior Dragons: 2001 -2002 (10 - 11 yrs)

Competition Time: 10:00 hrs – 12:00 hrs
Rules: same as Espoir Duration: 1 minute Golden Score: 30 seconds 
Categories: to be set according to inscription and weigh in of athletes 
Weigh In & Registration: Saturday 15th of December 12:30hrs – 13:00hrs @ the Band’s Room, Pembroke 
Fee: € 10 (€ 4 of this fee will be donated to l-Istrina. If you do not wish to contribute to the donation of l-Istrina you can pay only € 6 as competition fee). Fees must be paid during weigh in.

Espoir: 1998 – 2000 (12 – 14 yrs) 

(If the club leader deems that judoka aged 11 are of good standard to compete in the Espoir should contact the MJF to register them) (14 year olds are encouraged to compete in the cadet category as well - those born in 1998 will be cadets in 2013)

         Girls: -32, -36, -40, -44, -48, -52, -57, -63, +63
         Boys: -34, -38, -42, -46, -50, -55, -60, -66, +66 

Weigh In & Registration: Saturday 15th of December 12:30hrs – 13:00hrs @ the Band’s Room, Pembroke 
Fee: € 12 (€ 4 of this fee will be donated to l-Istrina. If you do not wish to contribute to the donation of l-Istrina you can pay only € 8 as competition fee). Fees must be paid during weigh in.
Rules: Senior Rules + the following special rules for Espoir (after first warning penalty):
· No Strangles & Arm locks
· Kumikata (grip) before Hajime (start)
· Matte on break of Kumikata by both competitors
· Action on Knee; Grips below belt; Arm around neck; Makikomi & Sutemi

Cadets: 1995 – 1998 (15 – 17 yrs) (14 yrs old can participate on permission by their club leader)

(17 year olds are encouraged to compete in the junior cat as well as - those born 1995 will be juniors in 2013)

Rules: Senior Rules + the following special rules for Cadets:
§ Application of Kansetsu Waza is prohibited: The referee will stop the action if any of the athletes try to apply Kansetsu waza and there will be no penalty. If Tori applies Kansetsu waza a second time, he is given direct hansoku make and he is not allowed to continue the competition.
§ Application of Shime waza is allowed: An athlete who has lost consciousness due to Shime waza is not allowed to continue the competition.
§ If an athlete is given direct hansoku make according to the IJF rule forbidding grips under the belt, he is allowed to continue the competition.

Juniors: 1992 – 1997 (15 – 20 yrs)

Competition Time: 12:00 hrs Duration: 5 minute Golden Score: 3 minute

Rules: EJU / IJF Refereeing Rules including rules launched in 2010:
§ Grips of legs and blocking

FORBIDDEN: All direct attacks or blocking with one or two hands or with one or two arms below the belt are prohibited. Simultaneous or quasi-­‐simultaneous attacks with grips of legs are prohibited. Punishment : HANSOKUMAKE
AUTHORIZED: Grips of legs in sequence of technique. Grips of legs are authorized after a technique if it’s real and well differentiated in the time. (Real technique is a technique whose intention is to make fall. It’s the contrary to the false attack).
AUTHORIZED: Grips of legs in counterattack. Grips of legs in counterattack are allowed. These counterattacks are allowed only within a sequence (continuity) of techniques started by the opponent. The principles of Go No Sen. (Counterattack). Without bodies contact the grip of leg(s) is prohibited.
EXCEPTION: Grip of leg is authorized when the opponent is in the position of cross guard.

PROHIBITED: In a normal Kumi-­‐Kata position to escape by passing the head under the opponent’s arm, then by gripping the leg is prohibited. Punishment : HANSOKUMAKE

§ Extreme Defensive Position – shido
§ refusal of Kumi-Kata grasp – shido
§ blocking by Kumi-kata with repulsing or crushing – shido
§ false attacks – shido

Medals

Medals will be presented to athletes placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category, who have at least one win. A commemorative present will be given to all Dragons.
